Roeder, Policy Advisor on Disaster Management, the United States Department of
State and Dale Tietz from NASA visited Lokichokio from 3 September to 5
September. Their mission was to gather information to facilitate the development
of a Global Disaster Information Network, which uses remote sensing to provide
environmental information Remaps, an effort to standardize data collection of
emergency information and indicators and to promote adherence to the Tampere
Convention which governs use of communications equipment in emergencies.
Also discussed was Peacewing, a project using solar powered flight.
