Goal:

  • Indigenous Livestock Shelters: The working group was formed in the Summer of 2007 and as its first project examined rumors that locally constructed animal shelters were appearing in Indian floods areas, shelters built by local NGO's rather than the UN or international NGO's.  What they learned specifically in August in villages of Uttar Pradesh was that shelters were developed for livestock by state and district and community workers supported by the Army. As of August the 8th, when the research began, there were few agencies showing a presence, though the  ICRC  and some NGOs like CARE were around.  Leading the research on this project is Nitin Shitole..
