Greetings,
Thank you so much for your help and communication regarding obtaining high
resolution images of several cities in Somalia. I appreciate all your help
and I apologize for not being able to get back to you earlier due to travel
and lack of access to my email which was overwhelmed with messages.
However, now that I am connected back, I would like to obtain more
information about the availability and prices of some of the images.
These images of cities in Somalia are requested as part of the Global Polio
Eradication Initiative activities. The will be used for helping us (CDC,
WHO, UNICEF) do house-to-house microplanning for the National Immunization
Days which will take place in these cities. The problem is that there are no
good updated maps of these cities which would allow us to ensure
house-to-house coverage of all areas of the city and to assign the different
areas to specific immunization teams which will be working on these tasks
during these days. We would like the images to be of high resolution to be
able to use them in MICRO planning for these activities. So 1 - 1.5 meter
resolutions would be ideal to be able to see separate housing and dwellings,
streets, alleys, etc. Less than that, might not be very helpful.
The other issue is the need for RECENT images since these cities have been
changing a lot, specifically in regard to the locations and sizes of refugee
camps, etc. There for we would like to obtain images which are at the most 1
month old (going back to April). This is necessary again for micro planning
so we will not miss any area or any child to be vaccinated during the NID's
activities.
So my questions now are in regard to:
- do you have HIGH resolution RECENT images for the cities of Mogadishu,
Baidoa, Hargeisa, Bosasso, Galkayo, and Garoway in Somalia?
If they are not ready right this minute, when can they be available to us?
What cloud cover (max 10%) do you have available?
- What software must they have in the field to be able to use these images?
In what format will they be delivered to us? Please, specify any
restrictions and feasibility to use them for the goals mentioned above.
- Last but not least, what are the costs associated with the different
images, depending on resolution and date of the images obtained?
Providing me with a rough or good estimate would enable us to decide if
we will be able to invest in buying them directly through you or exploring
other options and sources for obtaining these images due to limitations in
the budget we are working with.
Again, thanks for all your help and time and I look forward to hearing from
you with the information you can provide.
Take care,
Sincerely,
Jalaa' Abdelwahab
