Famine Has Struck Ethiopia, report from the Executive Director: The worst
famine to hit Ethiopia in over twenty years has struck hard, threatening
millions with death by starvation. Link that disaster to others in the Horn
of Africa and further South, and we will have a recipe for political crisis.
4.5 million are chronically food insecure; but the numbers at risks are now
much higher, probably ten million or more. What is needed is to energize
the donors. GDIN isn't accepted funds to provide relief; but it does
encourage its members to donate to their favorite reliable charity to
provide food and relief to the starving in this unprecedented crisis. GDIN
also stands ready to help with information to support relief operations, as
needed.
